Location of Job: Manassas, VA
When: Jun 4, 2018
Service Category: Residential
Services Performed: Living Room Fan Installation
Brief Explanation

What Did We Do For This Project?

We helped out a local customer with installing two ceiling fans in their living room.

The previously had an older style ceiling in there before, but they eventually felt that it was time to upgrade the look of the room a bit.

They already had the fans on hand fairly preassembled for the most part.

Our main purpose was to connect the fans to their electrical circuit which was already present in this room.

What Was The Main Fan Like?

The first fan which was installed was a large, 5-blade fan.

This fan replaced the main older one in order to help bring better, more efficient airflow to the spaces of the living room while also giving it a much more modern feel as well.

The previous main fan was a complete wreck in comparison to this newer, high class one.

For example, some of the blades were misaligned in relation to their angle with the rotary motor.

This may not seem like a big issue, but over time, this can cause the fan to potentially gyrate excessively.

If this had been allowed to persists for an extended period of time, it's possible that this repetitive motion could have loosened the frame of the fan from its installation mechanism and potentially fall down!

Add a squeaky motor into the mix and just an overall worn out mechanism and it's easy to imagine why our customers wanted to upgrade their living room ceiling fans.

Location of Job: Manassas, VA
When: May 15, 2018
Service Category: Residential
Services Performed: Roof Exhaust Vent Replacement & Installation
Brief Explanation

What Was Done For This Project?

For this local project, we conducted the installation of a bathroom exhaust vent through the roof of this customer's townhouse.

Our customer's prior exhaust vent was in total disarray and was hardly working at properly ventilating the bathroom below.

Once the change out was complete and we installed the new roof vent, we then locked the damper portion of the vent down with a generous amount of caulk to keep everything water-tight and secure.

This is one of the easiest steps for these types of installations, but you'd be quite surprised at just how easily some other guys forget to do this extra, pivotal step.

Why Did They Choose Us?

The customers which we helped weren't quite sure who the best fit for them would be. That is, of course, until they came across us.

They found confidence in our service in that we have a multitude of 5-Start ratings from previous customers and DECADES of experience from being with the electric business.

Additionally, they admired how we free showed off our work capabilities through some of our various job posting, such as this one right here.

Once they gave us a call, we answered the phone and cut straight to the heart of what sort of problems they were experiencing.

We never beat around the bush more than we have to when it comes to providing quality electrical services to our local community.

Location of Job: Gainesville, VA
When: May 15, 2018
Service Category: Residential
Services Performed: Attic Fan Replacement And Installation
Brief Explanation

What Was Needed For This Job?

A customer over in Gainesville had the dome top of their attic fan ripped off during a wind storm.

This left the entire inner workings of their fan fully exposed to the elements outside.

It as allowed for all types of external debris to leak and fall into the now gaping hole that was in this customer's attic.

We came out to their location and installed a completely new attic fan to help keep their attic cooled and properly circulated with fresh air.

Along with this, we installed a brand new dome to help patch up that huge hole that was on their roof.

Can Attic Fans Help Lower Your Electric Bill?

Surprisingly, when it comes to attic fans specifically, just a little bit of power can help to remove a lot of excess heat.

As a day in the life of an attic progresses, the sun's heat permeates through the space of your attic.

While soffit ventilation and roof vents help to reduce this built up heat a little bit, attic temperatures can still often reach up to 150°F, if not higher, without a proper working attic fan.

This stagnant heat can then influence the temperatures of your living space, and while your air conditioner may already be running at a high capacity, you'll likely need to crank it up even higher simply to help compensate for this heat leakage.

But once you add an attic fan into the mix, the situation turns around quite dramatically.

An attic that at one time was 150°F drops down to a much lower 90°F, and this also leads to your cooling system working as it properly should: efficiently and cheaply.

Location of Job: Fairfax Station, VA
When: Apr 5, 2018
Service Category: Residential
Services Performed: Generac Generator Installation
Brief Explanation

Why Did They Choose Us?

We provided a start-to-finish installation of a Generac generator for a customer over in Fairfax Station, VA.

They'd heard of our expertise when it came to Generac generators and noticed how local we were to them, so they decided to give us a call.

This project was fairly time intensive to begin with, but other than that, everything else went about smoothly and securely.

In one of our Before pictures, snow's clearly visible on the ground, so what better time to get a generator than at a point in time when you may need it the most.

Why Did We Pour Concrete?

For this specific project, we poured and set a concrete pad for this Generac as there wasn't any other substantially flat surface suitable for hosting the unit.

The main reason generators need to be placed on pads such as these is to keep them off and away from ground level.

These type of support pads help to ensure that over time and extended exposure to the outside elements, the generator will stay drier and not sink into the ground.

Since most generators are uneven in their overall weight, having a solid foundation underneath distributes the wait out and keeps it from leaning too much to one side over time.

There are other methods which accomplish this same purpose as well though. Pea gravel can help make planes level, especially for landscapes that may be excessively crooked or unlevel.

Another recent tactic that's become more popular is the simple concept of generator pads. These pads almost act as box springs for generators to rest on.

They don't require any concrete, screws, nails or any type of permanent installation and they still accomplish the same mission just as well as the other methods.

Location of Job: Manassas, VA
When: Apr 25, 2018
Service Category: Residential
Services Performed: Interior Living Room Recessed Lighting Installation
Brief Explanation

What Did We Do For This Project?

We finished up installing a brand new recessed lighting package for a new customer in the main family room area of their home.

There had previously been no lighting installations in that particular room whatsoever, so this was a fresh installation with no prior holes or wiring to work off of.

The first step in this project was to measure and then cut the holes for which the recessed lighting would end up going in the first place.

Once this was completed, we then went about installing the necessary wiring for the LED recessed lighting units, then finally secured in the actual lights.

After everything else was finished up, all of the new wiring which was installed along with the new recessed lighting units themselves resulted in ZERO drywall damage whatsoever.

Such an occurrence happens every now and then in regards to inexperienced electricians conducting installations, but we do everything in our power to make sure this never happens to our customers.

What's Included In Our Limited-Time, Recessed Lighting Package!

For ONLY $589.00, our All-Inclusive, Recessed Lighting Installation Package comes with it all.

6 standard recessed lights with modern LED lamps, all necessary wiring installed, included labor costs for all necessary parts and services, and even a FREE Dimmer Switch included as well.

To make matters even better, all of the materials and labor that go into these installations are backed by our 5-Year Quality Warranty Guarantee.

Once all the wiring, LED lamps and dimmer installations were tightened up and completed, our customer fell in love with her new modern lighting that helped to finally bring the big, empty space of her family room to life at last.

This customer couldn't have been more pleased with our Recessed Lighting Installation Package and all that entailed, and she said that she looks forward to working with us again in case she ever wants to add some additional lighting or just needs some general electric work done.

Service Category: Residential
Services Performed: Living Room Lighting Remodel & Installation
Brief Explanation

What Types Of Lighting Did We Install?

For our customer’s request and needs, we installed 2 types of lighting in their living room area: some integrated trim lights and several LED strips for the bookshelf.

The main centerpiece for the entire setup of the space was the fireplace and built-in shelving. From here, the lighting naturally wanted to spread outwards.

We installed some integrated lights around the trim of the ceiling to help build upon the centerpiece of the fireplace.

We went with some soft blue, nearly violet, fluorescents for this which really helped to give the space some pop.

The Method Behind The Lighting.

We went really warm with the built-in bookshelves. Although we installed various LED lighting strips in and around the shelves for the desired effect, we used ones that gave off more of a warm Halogen yellow rather than settling for the brazing-white Mercury which LEDs so often tend to give off normally.

The warmer yellow tone that we chose for the bookshelves worked perfectly with the surroundings, especially since it resembled the ideal light levels for reading.

Add into the mix the slate-gray stone fireplace with just the touch of blue surrounding fluorescents and the whole space was practically screaming “modern comfort”.

We were especially well pleased with how this project turned out, and thankfully, so was our customer.

Location of Job: Manassas, VA
When: Mar 23, 2018
Service Category: Residential
Services Performed: Electrical Panel Replacement
Brief Explanation

What All Goes Into An Electrical Panel Replacement?

Recently we replaced a customer’s old, outdated main electrical panel box in their home. We’re well versed in these replacements, but we still don’t use that as an excuse to slack off.

Every job is different and should be approached with the exact same care and attention as if it’s where our first professionally contracted job.

Obviously, the initial step that anybody should do when working on an electrical system is to turn the main source of connected power off, which is exactly what we did.

This is the most obvious and simplistic safety operation that EVERY true electrician should do. Yet, it’s stagger to realize just how many accidents happen every year just from people forgetting this fundamental law of electrical safety. But, moving on.

Once the power was switched off and safely away from our workspace, we removed the old split bus panel in order to get to the main inner workings of the panel box.

After this step was completed, we then removed the old panel box and the main feeder cable. This then completely exposed the inner wires.

To the average person, this mess of wires and cables looks like a weekend project gone wrong, but it’s just another day at the office for us electricians. We always take note of what specific connections are made beforehand so there’s never any “best guessing” going on whatsoever.

What Was Done To Install The New Electrical Panel?

From here, we then performed the new 4/0 service entrance cable installation to meter box directly outside on the exterior of the customer’s house.

Next, we then proceeded with the brand new 40-Circuit Electrical 200amp Panel Installation.

All of the cable and wiring, which was contorting about in some of the Before pictures, was then meticulous and efficiently reinstalled, checked for accuracy, then re-checked again just for good measure.

Finally, after the new electrical panel was successfully installed along with the new breakers, we then tightened up the outside power and turned everything back on. Mission Accomplished.

Job Details

Location of Job: Manassas, VA
When: Mar 14, 2018
Service Category: Residential
Services Performed: Backup Generator Installation
Brief Explanation

How fast were we able to install this emergency generator?

In less than a few days.

How kind of model did we install?

The specific emergency generator which we installed for our customer was a Generac 22 Kilowatt that's capable of providing electricity to an entire home anywhere from 2 hours all the way up to 2 weeks!

How Did We Install This Emergency Standby Generator?

For this specific unit, we did a dual “LP” (Liquid Propane) tank installation so that even if a natural gas line were to go out, the generator would still be capable of running for a prolonged period of time.

This involved digging a brief trenching for electrical power as well as for the control wiring to the gas line.

We used some conduit PVC piping for the generator's power and controls, and then diverted the Generac's power underground.

We did the same as well with the control wiring and for the gas line installation.

(Have a quick look at some of our Before/During pictures.)

How Did We Go Above And Beyond With This Installation?

To go a step further during this project, we built a privacy fence to hide the generator's fuel tanks out of sight at no additional cost to our customer.

We also put in some fresh, brand new mulch where the trenching was for the pipes and gas lines that we'd buried underground.

Additionally, we thought it'd be best to go ahead and paint the exterior of the small fencing to better match the surrounding color of the house. (Psst... We even painted the interior too. I know right?)

Once all that was taken care of, we then finally switched on the Generac onto Standby Mode and a nice, satisfying neon-green light turned on for us. (Check it out in After pictures.)

Our customer's emergency generator was now ready to handle anything that might possibly be thrown at it.

Be it a brief power outage, a nasty thunderstorm, a fluke, blue-moon blizzard, or some jittery squirrel that likes to chew on outdoor power lines. (The other squirrels call him "Sparky" for a reason.)

Fast service and reasonable price to fix the power line on our house that got pulled off by a fallen tree branch. NOVEC was great but they don't fix broken weather heads and ripped out clamps on the house. John showed up on time, gave a good quote and re-hung the line better than before.
